We Offer Training

FAQ

How do I apply for programs?

Please print and fill out an application form (available on the Home page and under the Application Procedures tab on this website), and submit it to the Lac Seul Training Centre of Excellence via fax, scanned email, or dropping it into the office in Hudson.

When I graduate, will my degree be recognized by employers and the Province of Ontario?

All of our programs will be instructed by certified, qualified training providers and educational institutions, and the qualifications you will receive upon graduation will be recognized by the Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities (MTCU) or the Ministry of Transportation (MTO), when required. We will also make every effort to ensure that any program and certification you receive from the LSTCE will be recognized by potential employers in that field, and that over time employers will see that any individual who has done a program at LSTCE most definitely knows their stuff!

Do I have to be Aboriginal to take programs at the LSTCE?

No. Programs are open to everyone, and we look forward to seeing you in our classrooms soon!

Where will the programs be delivered?

The majority of courses will be delivered at the Lac Seul Training Centre of Excellence facility in Hudson, Ontario, but most programs are coordinated so that they can be delivered in any location throughout Northwestern Ontario.

Are there courses during the summer months?

Yes, programs will be running at the LSTCE year-round, and efforts will be made to accommodate our students to the best of our ability.

Can I take a program if I do not have my Grade 12 diploma?

Many programs will be offered at the LSTCE that do not require a Grade 12 diploma, however it will be a pre-requisite for most of the longer-term programs that will teach specific skills in order to gain employment. These pre-requisites will often be put into place by the potential employers in the region.

If you do not have your Grade 12 diploma, and would like to achieve this to open the door to further and larger employment opportunities, please be sure to look into our upcoming Adult Education courses under the Available Programs tab!

Do I require a Criminal Record Check to take a program?

A criminal record search is not always required for programs, however if it is required it will be listed under the pre-requisites for the program.

What are my job prospects upon completion of this program?

The Lac Seul Training Centre of Excellence is very committed to the concept of 'training to employment', and we will be making major efforts to connect our graduating students with employers in Northwestern Ontario. We do not believe in training for the sake of training, and our success rate is directly related to the number of our students that become employed after taking programs with us.

Who do I contact if I have more questions?

You can contact us via phone, fax, email, or by dropping into our facility (details are under the 'Contact Us' tab), and our staff will make our best efforts to answer your questions quickly and efficiently.
